Intime - Design Sprint

Intime approached us with an innovative idea to digitize the face-to-face services they currently provided, focusing on improving communication within relationships and making support more accessible for couples. To quickly and efficiently test and validate this concept, we decided to run a Design Sprint.

Objective

The goal was to create a digital platform that would help couples identify and address communication challenges in their relationships. The Design Sprint aimed to build and test a prototype within five days, ensuring that the idea resonated with the target audience before investing further resources.

Process

The Design Sprint was structured as follows:

Monday: We mapped out the problem, defining the key challenges couples face in their relationships.
Tuesday: We sketched potential solutions, brainstorming different approaches to address these challenges.
Wednesday: We reviewed the sketches and selected the strongest ideas to move forward with.
Thursday: We built a realistic prototype of the app, focusing on the most promising features.
Friday: We tested the prototype with five target customers, gathering feedback to assess its viability.

The moderated user testing involved five participants:
- 2 Fathers: Each with a child aged 2-6 years.
- 3 Mothers: One in the second trimester of pregnancy, one new parent to a 9-12 month-old child
- and 1 parent to a child aged 2-6 years.
- Age Group: 28-47
- Location: Melbourne CBD / Docklands

Outcome

The app generated curiosity and interest among the participants, who recognised the benefits of the concept. They saw great potential in helping to identify and address relationship and communication problems, viewing the app as a valuable tool for improving relationships.

Key feedback included:

"It’s amazing. It’s working on your relationship, helping you understand your thoughts, and assesses your personality. It teaches you how to avoid arguments."

"This solves a relevant problem for me. Most relationships have issues, and this is positive to use."

On a scale of 0-10, participants rated their likelihood of recommending the app to their partners or friends at 8.8/10, indicating strong interest and potential for success.

Following the sprint, we provided Intime with a comprehensive report that detailed our approach, the participants we tested, and insights from the user testing sessions. The report also included links to the testing video sessions, the usable prototype, and our recommendations for the next steps. This report was crucial in guiding the further development of the app.
